Through 3 months of trial and error, I feel I’ve got the hang of the Polaroid SX-70 Sonar. Just like any of my other film cameras, the functionality and physicality of shooting with this machine is addicting. Loading the film cartridge, pressing the shutter button, autofocusing with the sonar, it’s a truly magnificent piece of technology.
It’s a simple shooting process, too. While this version of the Sx-70 has Sonar autofocusing – I manually focus my photos every time. The focus on this camera is beyond crisp! I can’t say that the sonar module has been obsolete, though. It’s a great option when friends or family want to enjoy shooting with the SX-70, which brings me more joy than they can ever know.
I’m hooked on the SX-70, and have a handful of project / photo book ideas for these little pieces of instant magic. So, this short post exists so I can share my progress with the SX-70! Check out a few of my favorites below.
